Others
The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo one's own.
The ability for individuals to do as they wish is as fundamental as your own freedom to do the same. The spoken (and written!) word is powerful and should never be silenced. Others have the right to express themselves, even if their words are offensive or hurtful. This does not exempt one from the social consequences of their speech (see: The Paradox of Tolerance), but the right to speak freely and go against the status quo should always be respected.
Additionally, one should not be judged for their identity (see: Compassion). Who a person loves is part of who they are. How a person dresses is part of who they are. A person's body is part of who they are. What a person believes spiritually is part of who they are. None of these choices should affect how you treat them or how they treat you. We're all human. We all bleed. We all die. Let people exist as who they want to be.
To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo one's own. Denying others the freedoms you enjoy, for any reason, is to deny your own right to those freedoms. Respecting the rights of others, including the freedom to offend, is essential to upholding a just and free society.
