Self
Summary
One's body is inviolable, subject to one's own will alone.
One of my favorite quotes comes from Andre Braugher's character Captain Raymond Hold in the TV show Brooklyn Nine-Nine: "Every time someone steps up and says who they are, the world becomes a better, more interesting place"
The right of self is one of the most important values I hold. One should not be shunned for who they are or what they do. How you present yourself, whom you love, and how you determine the best way to exist should be determined by your core identity. Any action or choice you make, as long as it does not harm others or the environment, should be subject to your own will. This includes, but not limited to:
- Modification of the body (pricings, tattoos, hair color, makeup, enhancements).
- Responsible usage of vices (drugs, gambling, food, sex).
- Who you are (gender identity, sexuality).
- What you believe (religion, spirituality).
- What you do (profession, hobbies).
